BERLIOZ BITTERNESS BECOMES HOPE HARRIET SMITHSON

In a visit to his home he finds his father ill and tries to explain to them the reason for abbandoning the medical studies. His mother curses him saying : never set a foot into this house again, i curse you. He comes back to Paris and one evening he goes to the Odeon theatre where he attends the play Hamlet , with the young Irish actress HARRIET SMITHSON playing Ophelia. His heart beats on a new rythm and this new Romance is going to give the world one of the best symhonic milestones. THE SYMPHONY FANTASTIQUE. He starts to send messages to Harriet but the text was very fiery and passionate so she refused his advances.

BERLIOZ THE EARLY YEARS IN PARIS

It came suddenly and unexpected.Hector visited the Opera to attend the Salieri Opera <THE DANAIDS >.This was the night which changed his life forever.Wondering about near the banks of Seine,he decided that the corpses he saw everyday at the autopsy room were discusting him and the future of his life was music.Based on the small amount of money he had he started inquiries about a piano. 120 Francs was the price. It was too much for him. Meanwhile he takes piano and cello lessons and he accepts the title of the failed piano manipulator gladly as he describes in his memoirs. One of the master musicians of our time Berlioz never possesed a degree from any institute for his musical studies. The Revolution years pass and Hector meets some of the intelectuals of his time. Sataubriand was one whom he asked for economic assistance when he struggled in order to perform his Missa Solemnis, another one of Berioz works of enormous singing forces and orchestral performers. In a replying letter Sataubriand regrets to let him know that he does not have the money, and if he did he would gladly give it to him. The medical studies are well gone by now.THE NEWS FROM GREECE ARE ARRIVING AND ARE CREATING AN ATMOSPHERE OF OPTIMISM.BERLIOZ BEGINS SCETCHES ON A NEW CANTATA CALLED :LA REVOLUTION GREQUE. His father interrupts the economic aid and Hector struggles in order to survive in Paris. He eventually joins the conservatoire and he tries to receive an award for his composition studies. He did not care that much over the award, as he did for the prize which was a 4 year pension accompanied by a sum of a few thousand francs. He eventually wins the composition award and he promises to write a new cantata every year , for 5 years.

Born 1803 Hector louis Berlioz was the fruit or the flower if you prefer so,of the French Revolution of 1789.His life and his works are subjects of utmost studies and discussions even today. His life was a romance as he himself used to say and his music inspired many master musicians like Wagner e.t.c Born near Lyon Hector the son of a surgeon -doctor was discouraged from taking piano lessons and soon after his initial studies was sent to Paris to study medicine.Being already familiar with the quitar and flute playing, young Hector begins in 1821 his journey to the world of music.A journey which shall donate to the humanitysome of the greatest musical milestones.Apart from the medical school he shows an interest to the library of the conservatoire of music ,but his bad luck pushes him to meet with Cherubini ,who was the director of the institution at that time.Very funny instants took place were the master was trying to throw out the young boy grom the country side.

fragile..............................no other words

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one Drying in the colour of the evening sun Tomorrows rain will wash the stains away But something in our minds will always stay Perhaps this final act was meant To clinch a lifetimes argument That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could For all those born beneath an angry star Lest we forget how fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are how fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are how fragile we are How fragile we are how fragile we are

THE JOHN BARRY LEGACY

JOHN BARRY is one of the most succesfull musicians of our time and his music has marked the cinematic and the audiophil art. Since he started in 1960 up till now everything he touches is turning to gold. Unforgettable musical experiences were accompaning the James Bond films making the action more vivid and cruel. Apparently Barry was always frustrated and disturbed over the James Bond theme whose ownership finally went to Monty Norman,by court`s decision. Nevertheless it was evident that his talent was much bigger ,as he composed nearly a new theme for each one of his films. Ηe begun years before the first Bond film playing and composing with a band he called<>.It seems his destiny always included the 7 digit ,and later he was known as the 007 composer. As my friend vapsomallias noted that he prefers Harry Palmer than James Bond, i remind him that the IPCRES FILES THEME also belongs to Barry. 1968 Barry takes the world by surprise as after his divorce he announces his marriage to JANE BIRKIN,the girl who later was to sing not John`s songs but Serge GAINSBOURGH`S JE T`AIME MOI NON PLUS. The ex Misses Barry probably never learned who was she married to.

JOHANNES BRAHMS symphony no1 DVD

JOHANNES BRAHMS-CLARA SCHUMANN THE STORY OF A ROMANCE

"My beloved Clara, I wish I could write you so tenderly, as I love you and do so much in love and goodness, as I wish for you. You are infinitely dear to me, that I cannot say it. Continuously I want to call you darling and whatever possible, without becoming satisfied to flatter you. When things continue like this, I will have to put you under glass or I have to save to put you in gold".

JOHANNES BRAHMS 1833-1897 born in Hamburg, was α conservative composer whose works are immortal milestones in the history of music. It seems that a big part of his life was spent in a fruitless romance between him and the wife of ROBERT SCHUMANN, CLARA. This platonic love affair gave birth to many milestones of music. Among them string quartets of utmost classical romantic quality.

Brahms wrote 4 symphonies in the classic format. It took him nearly 14 years to publish his first symhony, rumours said that critics reffered to the work as Beethoven's 10th Symphony. This made him very angry and forced him to revise the work many times.

His symponies are strictly classical style, the way BEETHOVEN, HAYDN, MOZART wrote. He did not like the symphonic poems or operas, instead he wrote a very famous Requiem which he called EIN-DEUTCHES REQUIEM. He left us also great symphonic dances "THE HUNGARIAN DANCES" and overtures.

He was a very sentimental man and through his music flows a feeling of melacholy, though he never reffered to his music with a program.

The biggest maestros have played his symphonies each one adding their personal touch on his work. My favorite approach to his symphonies is OTTO KLEMPERER. Also BRUNO WALTER was an excellent performer.

The Greek-Austrian conductor HERBERT VON KARAJAN has devoted a big part of his activity to BRAHMS symphonies. With DEUTCHE GRAMMOPHONE he has recorded the FOUR SYMPHONIES 3 or 4 times.

The next publication will contain a review of BRAHMS symphonie No 1 with HERBERT VON KARAJAN and the BERLINER PHILARMONIC playing in the BERLIN PHILARMONIC HALL.

MRAVINSKY -ROSTROPOVICH THE CONNECTION

ROSTROPOVICH : a faithfull recorder of his time needed a wall for his back. He found a fortress. ΜRAVINSKY he was someone who couldn`t be discussed,he was good or bad. HE WAS A GOD. THE ERA MRAVINSKY LIVED IS TO BE DISCUSSED BY THE INTERESTED PERSON. HIS MUSIC ISON OUR INTEREST...ONLY ABOUT MRAVINSKY Karajan after finishing the latest recording of the TCAICOVSKY 5th SYMPHONY asked to listen the Mravinsky prformance. After the hearing he..ordered the destruction of the tape recording. Mravinsky was rehearshing the Shostakovich 5th with the Leningrand philharmonic. He interrupts saying :Please my friends maybe you need the skills of an expert to transmit to you the need for precision here. You are ploding. We need you to be recharged just like a battery. It is another thing in the concert hall where we are burning by the emotions. Here we need to be exact. Please try again.

Mravinsky's rehearsal manner was said to be autocratic and brutal, and the resulting performances were tightly clenched. Yet they were also technically precise, finely detailed, subtly colored, and highly dramatic -- and this not always because he was in the habit of whipping fast finales into a frenzy. His readings had an intensity, concentration, and -- despite the arduous rehearsal -- spontaneity comparable to those of Wilhelm Furtwängler. In the West, Mravinsky was particularly noted as an interpreter of Shostakovich, whose Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth symphonies he premiered, and of Tchaikovsky. His recordings of the Tchaikovsky's last three symphonies, made in 1960 for Deutsche Grammophon while the orchestra was on tour in London, are touchstones of the Russian repertory.
