BRUCKNER ANTON

Maestro Herbert von Karajan has a funny relation with Bruckner and his music..Rumours say that once he stayed all over the night next to Bruckner `s coffin, ..

In his biography he kind of explains that he and his father had gone to visit the monastery and the church .They spent the night there and so he passed a long time next to Bruckner`s coffin which was under the organ, the master loved.. Whatever the story was ,it is a fact that the great Austrian conductor has spent a long time on Bruckner`s works , he is a devoted Brucknerian and has recorded these great works as the 9 SYMPHONIES AND THE TE DEUM many times.

This video shows the performance of the 8 th Symphony right there where Bruckner was buried .under the organ of the St, Florian Basilica, a church in a monastery in Linz Austria.

Anton Bruckner was an Austrian composer professor of music in the Vienna university. He lived between 1824-1896. Initially he studied music and started showing his genius at the age of 40.He studied the works of Wagner and was probably influenced by him. His compositions are characterized by their length, rep etitions and strict traditional spirit. A virtuoso organist himself like his father, never really composed for the organ, which he played at concerts in England and Paris. His main goal was the composition of the Symphonies, the Te Deum and the septets.

Bruckner was a very unhappy man and he never married.May be this fact was due to the peculiar sexual preferences he had.He made proposals to young girls and of course he was let down. This refusal and inability to have what he imagined had an effect on his character..He used to say that he prefered the younger girls because they were the beginning of a new life.

Whatever his sexual preferences may have been he remains in the history of music as a great symphonist and his works are great works of incomparable beauty, romantism and skill.
